Getting Ready for Camp (NaNo)
It's that time y'all - time to get ready for Camp NaNoWriMo 2022! Are you excited?

I'll take that as a no.
Let's see if I can help you with that. Over the next four Fridays, I'm going to help get you ready to write your April Camp NaNo novel for 2022. I'll be using steps from my Simply Self-Published process which means each step I share will be clear, simple to accomplish, and immediately actionable (in other words, you can use what you have on hand to complete).
Ready?
Trust me, it's going to be okay...
Step 1 - Deciding What to Write
Inspiration comes in so many different forms – song lyrics, a picture, a portrait, life experiences…
Perhaps you’re inspired to share your family history or have a really good twist on a familiar plot. Ideas come at any time, from anywhere. You may not act on all of them, but it's helpful to capture them as they come to you so you clear your mind of any distracting clutter when it comes time to focus on one particular manuscript.
Grab a piece of paper and a pen or open up a blank doc on your note-taking device of choice. Set a timer for 10 minutes. Start the time then begin jotting down story ideas; any and every concept that pops into your mind. Just a couple of sentences will do, no need to draft the idea here. If you're struggling to come up with an idea, think of your favorite song - what story does it tell or if it's instrumental, what feelings does it invoke, and from there, what plot idea do those feelings inspire?
When the timer goes off, stop, and save that list.
That's it for today, but feel free to add to the list as you go along. Keep the list handy, we'll need it for Step 2 coming up on Friday, Mar. 11th.
Did you find this helpful? Get this and more in the Simply Self-Published Guide, your full workbook on how to go from blank page to self-published in as few as six months. Purchase and download immediately to get started on your self-publishing journey.
Meanwhile, if you're still not sure you're ready to dive in, I've got you. Be sure you come back next Friday for Step 2.
Sending love and inspiration,
Dana
