The character I'm channeling this month is Dominique from "The Things We Do For Love", a short piece that appears mid-way through my erotic fantasy collection, Satin Sheet Memoirs, Vol. 1.
Here's how our protagonist of the story describes her when they first meet,
Not much taller than me, she stood there, the perfect murder of what little confidence I might have had. She was beautiful with model perfect looks and stylish clothing."
At the time I penned this piece, and now, I struggle to find images of the woman I imagine Dominique to be. Yes, she's beautiful, but not in a conventional sense. She's not 'diet culture' thin and she doesn't wear a lot of make-up. Actually, some lipstick or lip gloss and maybe some eye make-up at most is the extent of her 'look'. Otherwise it's a good skin care regimen and a healthy for her lifestyle, that gives her the polished look.
She gives off the air of a 'femme fatale' without the murderous instincts. Provocative, mysterious, self-assured in how she moves through the world. Sensual but not overtly sexual. Always classy.
She is known in the town in which the story is set, for hosting these invitation only, must be 25 and older, truth or dare parties. Not orgies, although she is known to have her pick of companionship after the bulk of the guests have left. She designs the questions and dares herself, as a way to inspire the attendees to open their minds to what sensual pleasure is. For example, she tells our protagonist,
The whole idea Lex, is not to focus on who's touching you but the touch itself...It's more about finding the pleasure in everything and everyone."
Reality check - there are so many other factors that go into existing in this world with some modicum of safety / sense of security. But to be able to settle in to your day, able to create and or be aware of the pleasurable sensations that surround you at any given moment...that's how Dominique lives her life. Surrounded, suspended, wrapped in a blanket of things and experiences that arouse her senses. There is touching, tasting, speaking, listening...all within the boundaries of consent, security, and respect.
And that my friends, is why I chose Dominique to be my first Leading Lady of the Challenge. In the comments below, tell me what you think? What ways can you find the sensual pleasure in the moment we're having together right now?
I'd say 2022 here on the blog is off to a good start. We've got one more post in this month's series all about me channeling Dominique so to speak (as best I can, lol).
In case you are new to the blog, all this year I'm bringing my fiction to life via a series of monthly challenges where I pick a character from the books I've written and incorporate certain of their traits, behaviors, and such into my day to day living. This month, I'm embodying Dominique from the first book I self-published, Satin Sheet Memoirs, Vol 1. (<---- Click to purchase).
In the meantime, to learn more about the monthly challenge, click HERE for a free info sheet that comes with a sample of how I'm meeting the challenge and a blank form for you to use should you have a fictional character in mind you'd like to channel for 30 days.
Before you go, if you haven't seen them yet, check out the first two blogs in the January series:
Thank you so much for stopping by. I'll see you back here next week. Until then,
Sending light & inspiration,
